Things that make us feel at home

One of the things that makes it feel like home is cooking our own yummy food. Getting things at the grocery store to make some of our favorite foods is fairly easy and we are thankful for that. There are some things that we miss but there really is a lot available. A few nights ago I made a BBQ chicken pizza (with the same ingredients I would use/find in the states) that was really delicious if I do say so myself, and Kyle would agree.

Another thing that makes me feel like we are making this place like home is that my wonderful hubby does all kinds of projects around the house. From fixing leaking, shotty plumbing to cutting the legs on our dining room chairs so that they sit on all four legs, Kyle knows his way around so many household problems - this is just one reason I am spoiled and blessed to have him.  His most recent project was making a custom extension cord. In our kitchen there is only one outlet and it happens to be behind the stove. It only took Kyle about 45 minutes to walk up the road, buy the supplies he needed and craft an extension cord with two different outlets about 5 feet from each other.  Now we can plug in two things at a time and they are on two different ends of the kitchen!

I am already feeling that one of the best things we packed from the states to make the adjustment here easier may be Kyle's tools.
