Eight Months

On Christmas day Obadiah turned 8 months old. To celebrate Christmas we had the opportunity to go up to Buellton, CA and stay in a vacation rental house with some of my extended family. We had a very nice time catching up with our loved ones as we celebrated the birth of our Savior. 

Obie continues to make us laugh with all of his expressions and it so fun to look back at the last month to see all the changes he has made in such a short time. 

 

 

Obie is pulling himself up on anything and everything and loves "cruising" around coffee tables and ottomans. 

His two bottom teeth are fully established and the way that he is drooling this week I would think more are on their way. 

He crawls everywhere and we are constantly having to be aware of what it in his reach.  

We found out this last month that Obie loves dogs. He gets so excited when they come near him and he loves to watch them. Obadiah eats well and can get frustrated if he is not allowed to feed himself. We are trying to soak up each moment with this little guy as we are often reminded that though days can be long the years are fast.

I can't believe we will be celebrating Christmas this week, our time in the US has really been going by fast. We are really enjoying being with our family and having Obadiah meet so many of our loved ones. Even though I wish I had been taking more pictures I do have a few to share. 

Obie loves spending time with his cousins. 

And Kyle and I love spending time with our nieces and nephews.  

When we first arrived in Arizona it was so warm and we had a lot of fun outside at Grammy and Papa Bob's house.

Right after Thanksgiving we got to show Obie the lights that Papa Bob makes and sets up each year. 

We have been in California since the beginning of December and have been enjoying spending time with Mimi, Uncle Chris and GG (Great Grandma Barbara). 

Daddy and Uncle Chris are trying to teach Obie how to play Wii. 

Obie continues to love being outside and he really enjoys Mimi's dog. 

We got to see some more Christmas lights in California and Obie has had to get bundled up as he has been experiencing the coldest temperatures he has ever felt. 

We have been in contact with a few of our friends in Uganda and we really do miss many of our friends there. It is an interesting time to be be in the States but to also know our home is in Uganda. 

We are blessed to see that Yahweh is revealing himself and making himself known in Uganda as well as in the US. Our desire is that you know the more and more of who Yahweh is and about the great salvation that he brings. 

Seven Months

Sorry I have not blogged since coming to the US there are many people to see! We have enjoyed seeing so many family members and friends. Obadiah is a smart boy who loves to study people and be with other people. His facial expressions continue to bring us much laughter. 

He is scooting all over the place and some days he looks like he is really close to crawling.

Obie amazes us by pulling himself up, he still has to work on catching himself when he falls though.

If you look closely you can see a bottom tooth that has broken through the surface. We are waiting for a second bottom one to break through soon. 

In the last week his sleeping has become much more consistent. This last month he has started to show a preference for Kyle and I. He is in the 97th percentile for height and weight. We are very happy with our big guy and are thankful that the Lord continues to sustain him and give him health.

Six Months

It is hard to imagine that Obadiah is already six months old. He brings us great joy and we are blessed to be his parents. Many people ask us what we are feeding him because he is a pretty big boy. We aren't feeding him anything special and I try to explain that the babies in my family are just big. We have added mashed food to his diet and he will have bananas, potatoes, carrots, potatoes but it seems mangos are his favorite. 

Obie makes us laugh often and his little giggle is contagious! He also makes us tired, especially because  he is not so awesome at staying asleep at night. As of right now he is not afraid of new people usually being quick to smile at many people who interact with him. 

These days you will find him with something in his mouth. His favorite items are this pointer finger or his thumb. I think teeth are coming but I have no idea what I am supposed to feel for or see on his gums, so we will wait and see when they come up. 

In the last two weeks Obie has started to scoot. He usually scoots best when there is something that he is not supposed to have in front of him (my glasses, cell phones, pens, sharp knives, etc).  

We just love this boy and are so glad we get to share him with our friends and family in the States so soon. 

A few normal days

Sorry it has been a bit quiet around here lately. It seems as though I get caught up in so many normal days I don't feel like I have anything to update you on. When I really start to think about these days it becomes clear that the Lord is working and that these days are very special. 

This precious boy continues to grow.

He LOVES bath time and takes it very seriously. 

His splashing can be out of control in the bath but we don't mind getting a bit wet because he is so stinking cute. 

Last weekend we had some of our really good friends; Emmanuel, Dorcus and their son Jezreel over for lunch. Emmanuel is an elder at UCF and he and Dorcus are a huge blessing to the people and ministry of UCF. Dorcus is 7 months pregnant, so you can be praying for their family! We have loved getting to know them over the last two years and are so thankful for their friendship. 

Nothing to note on this last picture, we were about to head out the door for church when Kyle insisted we take a picture.  

In almost exactly two weeks we will be landing in Los Angeles and then the following weekend heading to Arizona. Before we leave here we are trying to fit in many meetings (mostly Kyle) and make sure there are no loose ends before we are gone for 3 months. Its hard to wrap our mind around the fact that we have been out of the US for almost two years now, and at the same time, we can't believe we will be gone from our home here for 3 months! 

We are really looking forward to sharing time with so many of you in AZ and CA!

Last week we got all dressed up and went out in our neighborhood to snap a few pictures so that we could update our prayer card to pass out when we are in the states in just a few months (sidenote: I am having a hard time imagining that we will be in the US in a little over three weeks... I am pretty sure I will be completely out of touch with what is cool and not cool #missionaryproblems #whyishannahmontainthenews).

Five months

This five month photos shoot features the many faces of our little FOX that we are fond of.

Our little man is tipping the scales these days at 19 pounds. Obadiah laughs a lot but especially when Daddy tickles him with his beard. He is quite chatty and in the last few weeks has mastered sitting up by himself. A few days ago he had his first taste of banana and he LOVED it.
