Disneyland!!

We successful surprised my brother by first of all being with him on his birthday and secondly by going to Disneyland.  The look on Christopher's face when we walked into my mom's house last Wednesday was priceless! He was so surprised and so glad that we were there (at least that is what he said).  Rain was threatening on Thursday so we put off going to Disneyland till Friday.  On Thursday we got to meet with the pastor of the church I grew up at about being missionaries in Uganda.  We were encouraged because of that meeting and Kyle will be preaching at all 3 of their services one weekend in August.  At that time we will get to share with many long time friends about what God is doing in Uganda and what he is leading us to do there.  So that is good!

But back to Disneyland, here are some photos:

We also got to meet up with my cousin, Lian and her husband, Brynnen (for some reason I did not get a picture of them) who live in Costa Mesa and both have season passes.  They are great and we had a bunch of fun hanging out with them.

Our weekend was wonderful and now that I have been out of town for the last three weekends we will not travel again until our trip to Uganda in May with the college students!

When we got back home we were also able to see two of Kyle’s cousins and their families that were visiting from out of state.  It was too short but really nice to spend some time with them.  The Lord has truly given us great gifts in the families that he has set us in.

Happy Birthday Chris!

I have the best brother in all of the world.  You may disagree but that is probably because you do not know Christopher. Today Chris turns 13. Dang.

This was taken just a few months ago. These two are quite the pair.

The Lord has taught me so many things through Chris.  You would never know the pain and difficulty that Christopher once lived in by the way he carries himself.  Chris always thinks the best of people. His laughter is contagious and his joy is evident.  He loves the Lord and he loves his momma.  Chris is such a smart guy and his wit is surprising for a 13 year old.  Having Christopher in our lives is a blessing from the Lord and his attitude is often a lesson to me.  We love this boy so much and it is a privilege to watch him grow into a young man who fears Yahweh.  Happy Birthday Bubba.

Don’t tell him but today we are diving to my mom’s house to surprise him!  He has no idea we are coming and he has no idea we are going to Disneyland!

Uganda Uganda Uganda

There is a lot of talk about Uganda around here.

The weekend before last I was asked to speak about Uganda at a woman’s retreat for Eagle Rock Baptist Church (the church I grew up at).  I had so much fun!  There is nothing like old friends and there is nothing like hanging out with my mom.  During the weekend I heard so much about what Yahweh is doing in the lives of some amazing women.  I was able to share about our call to Uganda, what the Lord is already doing there and what we feel he wants us to do there.  I was so encouraged by the love that was expressed to both Kyle and I.  The Lord continues to confirm to us that he wants us to move to Uganda and we are so glad to see that confirmation.

In other Uganda news:

Kyle and I are leading a team of 12 college students and 2 other leaders on a two week trip to Uganda; May 9^th - 24^th.  This last weekend we took our team on a retreat up to Flagstaff, AZ.  We are humbled as we get to see the Lord moving in the lives of these students.   Our trip seems right around the corner and there are many things that we need to get in order before we go.  In the midst of the stress of getting things together, this weekend was a great time to spend together, laugh and find out more about one another.

With our team we have been reading a book called When Helping Hurts it is great, you should read it.  Seriously, go buy it.  We are going to be the best Short Term Missions team because we read it.  No, just kidding… but it is real good.

Talking about Uganda, makes me think about Uganda, which makes me want to watch the video of our trip last year to Uganda. 

The day is finally here…

I have put this off time after time after time. I do not want to start a blog… I mean I am already committed to so many things: The Lord, my husband, the church, our families, at least two friends, ice cream, Mexican food,  facebook… How could I add one more thing to my commitment plate?

Even as I write this I know we will have at least two followers, our moms, the two most important women in the world. We know we need to give our mothers more opportunities to see what is going on in our lives after we move half way across the globe. And we realize there may be a few souls who do actually care about us, so this is for you four people! Don’t say we never gave you anything.

What will help in our writing is to think that everyone that we have ever known, met, or shared glances with will stalk us on the internet and is interested in reading our blog. That is what everybody does right?? Right? No…No? It’s just me? Well I am all for pretending.
