New Relationships

Since we have arrived in Uganda, we have looked forward to and have anticipated building relationships.

Being in our house for almost two weeks now, we are excited to see how the Lord will use us in this place and how he will foster relationships here. This past Tuesday night we had our first visitors here at the house!

On Sunday, I spoke with Rhona (my language coach who attends the same church as we do) and asked her and her three year old son to come to dinner on Tuesday. I also spoke with my friend Penny who I have met on our previous trips to Uganda (she is Micah and Grace's niece). I talked with Penny about getting together during the week to hangout, it would either be Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday but she would call me to figure it out.

As it happened, Tuesday turned into a busy day.

We had a staff meeting at church in the morning, then Kyle and Trey stayed at church to do some studying and Erin and I came home to clean and get ready for dinner with Rhona and her son. As we are cleaning and sweating and trying to get things done, I hear a knock and a "hello" from the front door. As I go to the door I see our friend Penny! While we were in staff meeting I turned my phone on silent and I had never turned it back to regular. Penny had tried to call me and so had Kyle because Penny had gone to church and asked him where I was. Not knowing what to do, Kyle gave her directions to our house. Because it was after three and we are in Uganda (you never know how long your visit will be) Erin invited Penny for dinner as well.

So, the seven of us enjoyed a great meal and wonderful conversation, despite my stench from clean the house. After dinner and because it was dark, we dropped our new friends off at their homes. My thoughts were heavy after seeing where one of them lived. It is so different from our home in SO many ways. Our hearts want to help and give but we want to know what the Lord wants from us in his time. We continue to be thankful for how the Lord provides for us so graciously and lovingly. We hope to continue to use our home for ministry and relationships.

In a few hours we will be leaving on a church retreat with about 100 students and we hope for continued relationship building there. Thank you for your prayers.
