A trip to town

Today we had some errands to run downtown.  It only is about 6 miles into town but it took about an hour to get in to the center of the city.

On the first leg of the trip we had to walk down the hill from where we are staying to catch a taxi into the center of Kampala.

Once in the the taxi (14 passenger van) we picked up several other passengers and soon the taxi was filled with people going into town. Very quickly after that we hit a ton of traffic and inched our way through that mess for quite some time.

This is a common scene in the city
Once reaching the center of town we get dropped off and have to take a boda boda (motorcycle taxi) to the shopping center we wanted to go to.

You can't tell but we are on the back of the motorcycle in traffic
At the shopping center we got some lunch and the boys ate pretty good steaks for under 10 dollars. The best part about lunch for them was enjoying a Dr. Pepper with their meal.

Then we priced some items in the super markets.

Finally, we made our way back to the guesthouse on another taxi and then another boda. We had a successful day!
