When we were in the states, we realized that Obadiah loved swinging on the swings at parks and at his grandparents' backyards. Since we are in Uganda and do not have any parks or grandparent's backyards, we decided we could build a swing set in our "backyard." This is easier said than done. Over the last few weeks, in his free time, Kyle went all around town to collect the necessary equipment for the supports and began to install it. We brought the swing and chain from the states.
Kyle had some help digging the holes to secure the set in the ground. It has been a while since our friend Hamlet made an appearance on the blog but he and his mom, Rhona, spent the weekend at our house last weekend and enjoyed helping us get the set in the ground.
Obadiah also wanted to get his hands dirty and help with the digging.
Enjoying the fruit of his labor.
This is the look of intense excitement...albeit a little scary, he was having fun.
In addition to the swing set, Kyle cleaned up our little "back yard," unfortunately we could not get rid of the septic tanks (the metal lids in the foreground). At least once a day Obie spends time swinging and enjoys romping around this little patch of grass. As you can see there is room for one more swing which will come with the Allens so that Obie and Zion can swing together.
