Three Birthdays in one day!

Who knew July 19th would be such a great day for birthdays? Yesterday my cousin Lindsey gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, and my good friend Kari delivered a hansom little boy. As I am being made an "Auntie" several times over in the States, I am trying to keep up here in Uganda by finding some nieces and nephews here.

You have heard me talk about my good friend Rhona, who happens to be my language coach, and her son Hamlet. It just so happened that Hamlet's birthday is on July 19th also, and he turned 4 this year. Hamlet has been calling Kyle and I "Uncle Ky-lul" and "Auntie Shawah" for a while and we just love being in relationship with this little guy.

For his birthday Rhona wanted to take him out to this shopping center with a play place at it, and allowed me to tag along. To my knowledge, this is one of two play places in Kampala, and you have to pay a little less than a dollar per hour to play in it. We had lunch and Hamlet just played and played, he was so glad to be there and made friends easily with all the other kids. After he was done playing we walked a bit to get some "really good ice cream" from a place that Rhona knew. I am not sure who was more happy about the ice cream between Hamlet and me. This was the best purchased ice cream I have had since being in Uganda, I will need to take Kyle there to see what he thinks about it. The three of us had a great day. I am so thankful for all my nieces and nephews, and since I can not be with all of them I am glad that the Lord continues to provide some for me to love on.

Right now "Uncle Ky-lul" is a few hours outside of Kampala, near Mityana, with his friend Francis, visiting the place where he grew up. They will be helping the woman that raised Francis with some things around her place; digging, farming, fixing and the like. I am sure Kyle is going to love his time there, I wouldn't be surprised if he sent for me to come join him :) I sent him with our point and shoot so hopefully he has some photos to share when he gets back on Saturday.
